Why ACC is its own exam, not a warm-up for PCC
A question that comes up: is ACC a lighter version of the PCC exam? No. They're built differently on purpose.
ACC is 60 knowledge-based questions, 90 minutes, single best answer out of four. PCC and MCC candidates take a different exam. In its current format that is 78 situational judgment items where you pick both the best and the worst response, and both count. If you've read about "best and worst," that's not your exam. Yours asks for one right answer. That sounds friendlier, but it also means no partial credit for a defensible second choice.

What the ACC exam covers
ICF's ACC exam tests three areas: Coaching Ethics (30%), Definitions and Boundaries of Coaching (30%), and Coaching Competencies, Strategies, and Techniques (40%). It's 60 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, one correct answer per question, out of four options.
ACC candidates are earlier in their coaching careers than PCC or MCC candidates, so this may be the first time your knowledge of the ICF framework gets tested without a client in the room to react to. You can be a good coach and still miss questions that ask you to name the boundary, not just live inside it.
ICF publishes 10 official sample questions for the ACC exam. That's useful for seeing the format once. It isn't enough repetition to build pattern recognition for a 60-question exam, and that's the gap CredentialPrep's ACC practice questions are built to close.
